Matiz (mah.teez), meaning hue in the Spanish language, designs artisanal work that respects and preserves the indigenous traditions of handmade textiles. Influenced by Oaxaca’s mountainous landscape, collection no.1 mimics the states’ rugged terrain and rich earth. Matiz rugs emulate the diverse topography through distinctive contour lines and bold colors that reflect the local materials and outside surroundings. Each handmade piece is the result of a careful production process woven in Oaxaca Mexico in 100% wool with natural dyes. All designs are available in standard sizes of 2’0” x 3’6”, 5’0” x 7’0”, and 6’0” x 9’0”. Custom sizes and colors can be ordered up to a 10’ x 15’ size.
